1. Read from 1981 to the first mention of 1954....before Forrest runs!
2. Read up to Graduation Day- University of Alabama, 1966.
This part ends immediately after Forrest goes to the White House and meets the President......He's not in the army yet!
3. He's in the army now, and he's learning about shrimp! Read up to the time it starts to rain in Vietnam! It's 1967.
4. Forrest ran out of the line of fire-but ran back to get Bubba...Before he could find him, he pulled a few others out as well...Read up to "The best thing about getting shot is the ice cream!"
5. Forrest learns he has an eye for ping pong! He leaves Vietnam to receive the Medal of Honor. The war is escalating..Johnson is still president and the nation is in the middle of social upheaval.
6. The ping-pong team goes to China. Forrest goes to Washington D.C. - again! Nixon recommends a hotel. Forrest comes into some money and goes into the shrimping business. Lieutenant Dan and Hurricane Carmen hit Louisiana and Bubba Gump Shrimp is born. Meanwhile, Forrest's mama gets sick and Forrest runs home. It is now 1974.
7. At home, the town offers Forrest a job cutting grass..He doesn't take any money for it because he bought into a "fruit company'-Apple. Bubba's mama gets Bubba's share of the profits. Jenny comes back, gives Forrest some running shoes and leaves again. And so Forrest ran! We are in the late 70's. Forrest stops running!
8. Reagan is shot. Jenny sends Forrest a letter and so he goes to Savannah, Georgia to see her-1981. He learns that Jenny is sick (AIDS?) and that there is a little Forrest. Forrest takes them both back to Alabama, marries Jenny/buries Jenny, and sends little Forrest off to school as a feather floats off in a breeze. 1982
